A Still Small Voice

Written by Betty B.

Have you ever known someone that spoke so softly that you had to listen intently to hear them? I had a friend like that. She was a precious Christian woman. What she said to me was always a blessing. She was very special. But I had to draw up real close to her to hear sometimes.

There was a man once who had a still small voice speak to him in 1 Kings 19:11-13. It wasn’t in the wind or the fire or in the earthquake. Just as Elijah heard the still small voice, we need to hear also. God wants us to draw up real close and listen to what He has to say. Does He speak softly so we can listen intently and learn of the things He wants us to know? He also wants us to draw up real close because He is loving and faithful. He only wants to help us through whatever we are going through. “Draw near (nigh) to God and He will draw near (nigh) to you.” James 4:8

Are we hearing the still small voice or is the noise of the world too loud?

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Draw up close to God and listen to the most amazing words ever spoken. It will be amazing because it will only be for you.

Listen, don’t let the noise of the world drown out the voice of the God of the universe. He always has something wonderful to say. Don’t miss it because the noise of the world is too loud.

Draw up close and ignore the noise.
