“I know God won’t give me anything I can’t handle. I just wish he didn’t trust me so much.” I’ve had this quote by Mother Teresa hanging on my cubicle wall at work for a long time and have often quoted it in certain situations. Then one day it hit me! No offense to Mother Teresa, but this belief is wrong! Thinking this would lead one to believe that I am doing this life thing on my own and God is putting difficult situations in my life and then saying “good luck with that”. Wait, WHAT? I have to figure this out by myself? Talk about a recipe for disaster! I am so thankful that God has promised me He would never leave me nor forsake me. That He encourages me to cast my cares on Him and to trust Him to handle the situation and work all things for my good. I am thankful He has provided the Bible as a guidebook to lead me through these situations and offers the comfort of the Holy Spirit to reassure me daily that He is working on my behalf.
My new mantra, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13
