Christmas…. ‘a time of giving’… ‘peace, good will to men’. (Luke 2:14b) Of course, the greatest gift we could ever have received is the ‘Reason for the Season’. Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ; the gift of God to us (His only begotten Son)!
Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Without Jesus, we would have no hope. But, do we appreciate that gift from God as we should? Does it show in our lives?
When someone close to us is celebrating a birthday, we usually get them a gift. Do we ever think about giving Jesus a gift? You might say, “What could we give Jesus?” How about the only thing that we possibly can? How about our life? Not just by saying we are a Christian, but by living that out. He is not interested in ‘part’ of us but in ‘all’ of us.
Mark 12:30 tells us: “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength; this is the first commandment.”
Let’s not be guilty of giving Jesus a partial gift but let’s give Him our whole self. He deserves nothing less.
